NAO City® allows accurate location of terminals in dense urban areas.
NAO City 1.1 compensates for the problems associated with GPS in cities using a combination of GPS signals with Wi-Fi signals and cartographic data.
NAO City® also provides location for Wi-Fi terminals which are not equipped with GPS receivers.
NAO City® software is typically designed for general public mobile terminals (smartphones, PDA, PND, PC laptops, netbooks, PC tablet), but it is also compatible with professional terminals (EDA, specific terminals).
Advantages: more accurate, faster, more available than GPS
NAO City® provides very accurate positioning (3.9 m of cross-track error in tests performed in downtown Toulouse) thanks to optimal combination of GPS and Wi-Fi measurements and the use of digital cartography to better identify the sources of errors in environments where GPS accuracy is degraded.
NAO City® calculates the position very quickly, typically around 2 seconds on ARM9 @ 400 MHz under Mobile Windows, under Wi-Fi coverage. NAO City provides continuous service, for location in environments where GPS is not available : narrow streets, shopping centers, urban canyons, etc.
Functioning
