Accurate, indoor-outdoor location in 3D in large complexes

NAO Campus ® allows accurate, indoor-outdoor location in 3D (2D +identification of the level) in large complexes equipped for this purpose (a building, group of buildings, industrial complex, hospital, convention center).
NAO Campus ® is a software that has been designed for general public mobile terminals (smartphones, PDAs, PNAs, laptops, PC tablets) but it is also compatible with professional terminals (EDAs, specific terminals).
NAO Campus ® operates using a combination of GPS signals, Wi-Fi signals and geographic data. It is compatible with terminals equipped with GPS and Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi alone.

Advantages

NAO Campus ® accurately calculates a position anywhere in the equipped zone (up to two meters accuracy) seamlessly and accurately managing indoor/outdoor transitions.

NAO Campus ® rapidly calculates a first point when the terminal is covered by Wi-Fi (typically around 2 seconds on ARM9 @ 400 MHz under Mobile Windows). These characteristics, combined with approximately 0.5 Hz updated frequency means that it can be used for very demanding requirements such as pedestrian navigation.

Operating mode

NAO Campus ® has the same generic architecture as products in the NAO® range.

The NAO Campus ® architecture and the Wi-Fi beacon deployment software required to operate NAO Campus® make the system easy and fast to set up:

  • Beacons already located in the service zone can be reused
  • Beacons do not need to be linked to a network, the position is calculated on user terminals
  • The combination of GPS and Wi-Fi signals in terminals requires a lower density of Wi-Fi beacons and makes the geometric constraints for deployment of the beacons more flexible
