For the purposes of occasional deployment, the POSIRIS concept aims to extend the location function to inside buildings when GPS signals are degraded or unavailable. The POSIRIS concept is based on a combination of GPS and Ultra-Wide Band signals, offering seamless positioning information both inside buildings and outdoors. Based on mobile node network architecture, the solution uses sharing of inter-node distance measurements carried out with Ultra Wide Band and satellite-nodes thanks to GPS.
To position all of the elements in the network.
Each node equipped with a terminal can not only determine its own position but also share this information with another knot which can then have an overall view of all the nodes in the network. The system takes advantage of the especially good propagation properties of UWB signals in indoor environments along with the temporal resolution of UWB pulses to rebroadcast synchronization data and perform accurate distance measurements.
The POSIRIS concept is especially adapted to meeting the location requirements of operators intervening on a one-off basis in sites with which they are not familiar. Whether for the purposes of firefighting, defense, or even security operations, this location technology offers the flexibility and performance required to get the job done effectively.
